‘The Song of the Working Child’

A children/family performance of traditional songs, music and dance that explores life for working children in the 19th Century

Covering the period from Queen Victoria’s coronation to her death, The song of the Working child consists of Victorian folk songs and music, eye-witness accounts and commentaries, role play and clog dancing. It is sometimes shocking, often moving, highly informative and always thoroughly entertaining.

During the performance photographs and other images of the times are projected to illustrate what is being done and said. After the performance we can offer participatory workshops in singing and song writing.
